A late goal by Derrick Williams salvaged a point for relegation-threatened against Cardiff.
Blackburn started brightly in this game. Sam Gallagher had a shot which hit the bar. But, after that, Cardiff took control of the game. Moments after heading against the bar, Kenneth Zohore volleyed in from Junior Hoilett’s cross to put Cardiff ahead in the 38th minute. It was his fifth goal in four Championship games. It gave them a half-time lead.
Blackburn brought on Danny Graham in the second half and he brought more urgency to their play. He instantly shot narrowly wide. A period of pressure for Blackburn followed that, but they could not get past a resolute Cardiff defence. They finally equalised in the 90th minute, when Williams coolly controlled the ball in the box, before firing low into the net.
Neil Warnock was frustrated at his substitutes after the match. He was annoyed that Declan John hadn’t stopped the cross and that Craig Noone had lost his man. The point could be precious for Blackburn in their bid to stay in the league. Cardiff drop to 13th in the league, but they have still improved a lot since Warnock came in.
