Cardiff put in a very good performance to come away with a victory at play-off hopefuls Leeds.

The Bluebirds could’ve gone in front in the first half. Greg Halford was free in the box when a free-kick came in, but he headed straight at the keeper. Leeds had a half chance, with Chris Wood having a free-kick saved comfortably by Cardiff keeper Allan McGregor.

In the second half, in the 53rd minute, City went ahead. Craig Noone had showed that he had a good free-kick in the first half when he crossed in for Halford. This time he crossed in for Sean Morrison, who was free to head into the bottom corner.

Both teams had efforts on goal during the second half, but no clear efforts. Against all the odds, in the 71st, Aron Gunnarsson, who was instrumental in midfield, ran through the Leeds players, before squaring for Kenneth Zohore to slot home. Leeds’ frustration was summed up when Liam Bridcutt was sent off for two bookings.

City contained their opponents very well and were very solid at the back. Cardiff have climbed up to 14th in the league. Hopefully Neil Warnock can stay for next season and they can push for promotion.

Next up is a trip to play-off chasing Derby on Tuesday, the 14th of February. Hopefully they can carry on their winning form.
