Anthony Pilkington’s late goal got Cardiff back to winning ways and leapfrog Wolves.
They went behind after two minutes as Matt Doherty scored from long-range, although Ben Amos probably should’ve saved it. Left-back Doherty’s shot after cutting on his right foot was straight at Amos, but all he could do was help it into the net. Cardiff didn’t threaten at all in the first half, but were much changed in the second half.
They started testing Wolves goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne, but he was equal to those attempts. City dominated the second half and in the end they managed to score past Burgoyne. He failed to catch or clear a Peter Whittingham and Matt Connolly headed in from close range. They continued to threaten and in the 86th minutes, Anthony Pilkington drove into the box before drilling the ball into the bottom corner with an assured finish. City are now out of the relegation zone and up to 19th place, while Wolves drop to 20th.
Next up for the Bluebirds is another home game against Barnsley on Saturday, the 17th of December which is next Saturday. Hopefully they can carry on the winning form.
